Makarsko primorje — od rivijere do mikroregije

Abstract
The chapter examines the transformation of Makarska and the Makarska littoral from 1961 to 2010 under a development model centered on mass tourism and the idea of the riviera. It argues that decades of coastal urbanization have exhausted that model, particularly as access to beaches and other common resources becomes constrained during the tourist season. The authors propose a shift toward a microregional model that limits further coastal construction, improves the quality of tourism, and directs sustainable investment toward the rural hinterland, agriculture, and local quality of life.
